Bai Ji Guan — Rare Wuyi Rock Oolong Tea

Among the four most celebrated rock teas of Wuyi Mountain, Bai Ji Guan (White Cockscomb) stands apart as perhaps the most unique. Originating from Bat Cave on Yin Ping Peak, Wuyi, and named during the Ming Dynasty, this extraordinary oolong is defined by its striking appearance: bright yellow buds covered in fine hairs, with older leaves that appear almost white in sunlight — together resembling a cockscomb, the origin of its poetic name.

Farmed asexually from late-grown seeds and found primarily in the inner mountains of Wuyi, Bai Ji Guan is a true rock tea in every sense — grown in the mineral-rich rocky terrain that gives Wuyi oolongs their distinctive depth and character. The bushes are medium-sized with thick, dense branches and delicate, bulging leaves with shallow teeth.

In the cup, Bai Ji Guan offers a rare and memorable experience: a fragrance of mushrooms, with a cha yun (tea sensation) that is crisp and slightly dry in the mouth — clean, lingering, and deeply satisfying.
