Black Clay Teapot – Yixing Plum Blossom Carved Xi Shi Form

One of the most beloved silhouettes in Yixing teapot history, the Xi Shi form is celebrated for its smooth, flowing lines and perfectly balanced proportions — named after one of ancient China’s four great beauties. This piece elevates the classic shape with white plum blossom carvings on a deep black clay body: plum blossoms that bloom defiantly in winter, a symbol of resilience, purity, and quiet elegance.

Crafted by nationally recognized master Li Luchun, whose carved purple clay works are held in museum collections worldwide.

Key Features

  • Classic Xi Shi Form: Smooth, flowing lines with a harmoniously unified handle, spout, and body — a timeless silhouette for daily brewing and collection.
  • White Plum Blossom Carving: Hand-carved motifs symbolizing resilience and elegance; lid and body carvings echo each other in a quiet, vivid scene.
  • Yixing Black Clay: Natural, understated appearance with excellent heat retention — produces a mellow, aromatic brew and maintains tea temperature longer.
  • Develops Patina with Use: Over years of use, the clay gradually reveals a richer texture and warm luster — increasingly refined and historically expressive.
  • Literati Aesthetic: Reflects the maker’s deep understanding of nature, traditional culture, and the expressive power of ink-line carving.
  • Artistic & Collectible: Suitable for daily tea ceremonies, appreciation, and long-term collection.

Material

  • Ore Yixing Black Clay (Hei Ni): A rare Yixing clay with a naturally dark, solemn tone. Excellent thermal insulation and breathability — ideal for oolong, pu-erh, and aged teas.
