Gaiwan — Yixing Lotus Clay Covered Cup Tea Bowl, 180ml

The gaiwan has been central to Chinese tea culture since around 1350 — saucer, bowl, and lid working in perfect harmony. This version is handcrafted from Yixing original ore clay, fired at 1180°C to form a double-pore structure that locks in water temperature and preserves tea fragrance. The lotus petal design on the lid makes it effortless to hold and pour, while the lid stays securely in place during decanting. Available in Purple Clay and Red Clay.

How to Brew with a Gaiwan

1. Place loose leaf tea in the bottom of the gaiwan
2. Pour boiling water to just under halfway — immediately drain as a rinse, using the lid as a strainer
3. Inhale the awakened aroma from the wet leaves
4. Pour fresh boiling water down the inside wall (not directly onto leaves) — sets leaves swirling at the bottom
5. Drink directly from the gaiwan, or decant into a fair cup or individual tasting cups
