Gaiwan Teapot Lotus Coarse Pottery Handcrafted 200ml Tea Cup
Lotus Gaiwan — Handcrafted Coarse Pottery for Gongfu Tea
Steeped in centuries of Chinese tea culture, this coarse pottery gaiwan brings together artisan craftsmanship and everyday function. Fired at 1300°C in a reduction kiln, the clay develops a naturally falling-ash surface texture — no two pieces are identical. The gilded iron glaze adds a warm, antique depth that deepens with use.
Design Highlights
- Lotus relief lid: Hand-carved lotus motif combines aesthetic beauty with a secure, comfortable grip
- Downward-angled spout: Engineered for smooth, drip-free water flow during pouring
- Built-in filter hole: Separates tea leaves from liquor for a cleaner, more flavorful cup
- Polished flat base: Protects tabletops and tea trays from scratching
- Lotus leaf base detail: Adds a refined finishing touch to the overall silhouette
How to Brew with a Gaiwan
Add your tea leaves to the bowl. Pour boiling water just below halfway and immediately drain (rinse) — this opens the leaves and releases aroma. Inhale the rinsed leaves, then refill with fresh boiling water poured along the inside wall to set the leaves swirling. Drink directly from the gaiwan or decant into a fairness pitcher and tasting cups.
Compatible with all tea types: green, white, oolong, pu-erh, black, and herbal. Adjust water temperature and steep time to suit your tea.
