Shipiao Teapot – Yixing Purple Clay Dragon Carved

One of the most iconic silhouettes in Yixing teapot history, the Shipiao (stone ladle) form is celebrated for its stable, grounded presence and timeless proportions. This piece elevates the classic shape with a hand-carved dragon — scales, whiskers, and claws rendered in vivid detail, as if the dragon is soaring through clouds. Deep red and lustrous, it is equally at home on a tea tray or in a collector’s cabinet.

Key Features

  • Classic Shipiao Form: One of Yixing’s most revered teapot shapes — solid, stable, and beautifully proportioned for daily gongfu brewing.
  • Hand-Carved Dragon: Traditional carving technique brings the dragon to life with fluid, natural lines — a symbol of auspiciousness and power.
  • Deep Red Finish: Rich, lustrous tone that deepens and brightens with regular use and tea seasoning.
  • Smooth Pouring: Short upright spout delivers clean, drip-free flow; built-in filter holes catch tea residue.
  • Collectible & Functional: Suitable for daily brewing and long-term collection — a piece that gains character over time.
  • Care: Rinse with water only. Avoid detergent or chemical cleaners. The clay naturally seasons and becomes more lustrous with each brew.

Material & Craftsmanship

  • Ore Zi Ni (Purple Clay): Authentic Yixing ore purple clay — fine in texture, mineral-rich, with excellent air permeability and heat retention.
  • Fired at 1200°C: High-temperature firing produces a solid, stable structure that enhances tea aroma and locks in fragrance.
  • Fully Handmade using traditional Yixing techniques by master artisan Han Chuanjie.
