Yixing Purple Clay Teapot Hexagonal Zisha Gongfu
Yixing Purple Clay Teapot — Hexagonal Zisha, Master-Crafted
Revered by tea connoisseurs worldwide, this Yixing purple clay teapot is hand-shaped from rare aged Zisha (紫砂 / 陈腐老紫泥) — a clay found only in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, China. Its distinctive hexagonal form is the work of Master Shao, a senior ceramic artist whose pieces have been exhibited in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and displayed in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai, Beijing.
This is not just a teapot. It is a living vessel that grows more beautiful, more fragrant, and more spiritually resonant with every brew.
Why Yixing Zisha?
- Unique adsorption: The porous clay continuously absorbs tea aroma during use. Over time, the teapot develops its own rich, layered fragrance. Brew one type of tea for best results.
- The more nourished, the more beautiful: Unlike ordinary ceramics, frequent use makes the surface gradually glossier, smoother, and more luminous — a process tea lovers call "nourishing the pot."
- Thermal stability: The sandy texture transfers heat slowly, giving excellent resistance to cracking even under direct heat.
About the Maker — Master Shao
Master Shao (born 1952, Yixing) studied ceramic decoration at Yixing Light Industry School under Professor Zhang Zhian. Since 1976, she has worked in ceramic art design at the Jiangsu Yixing Celadon Factory Research Institute, collaborating with master Han Meilin and Professor Zhang Shouzhi of Tsinghua University. Her works have won national and provincial awards and are recognized by collectors in China and abroad.
